Our Training Philosophy

It’s important to us that the dogs and guardians we service live a GREAT life together! We take a Welfare-Based approach to solving behavior challenges and helping guardians find that great life with their dog. All behavior is communication, and it’s our job to help dogs and guardians communicate effectively. Our team is committed to continuing education to stay up-to-date on progressive training methods.

Before we start teaching skills (what most people think of when they think ‘Dog Training’), we dig into the dog’s Overall Wellness — physical, mental, emotional — and work towards meeting their needs through diversifying their enrichment/exercise routine. Then, we help guardians set up their home and environment to facilitate success. This may look like baby gates, crates, window film, or protocols to follow. Then, we start Dog Training (using positive reinforcement).

We hope to help our clients uncover their dog’s motivations (spoiler: dogs do what works to access the stuff they want), learn to provide Legal Outlets for their dog’s instinctual needs, understand their dog’s body language, and give them effective ways to communicate together.
